About us
Hi!!
Welcome to ULI Bags
I’m Rosalyn Manurung, a fiber artist who loves to have fun with natural fibers, colors, shapes, and prints. I started my journey as an artist in 2021 when I found the joyfulness of creating unique bags by combining rich, energetic tones of quilting cotton with natural fibers such as leather, cork, linen, or canvas. I thoughtfully curated each bag to create a sense of uniqueness and put details to add more functionality to the bags. The quilting process adds structural integrity, making my bags last years and turning ordinary fibers into extraordinary art pieces. My goals for each bag are simple: fun, elegant, unique, functional, and durable.
I’m a big supporter of slow fashion. In a world where mass production often overshadows the personal touch, my quilted bags are a statement of the unique handmade. My artworks are not just accessories, they are expressions of personal style, and statements of my joyous spirit as well as those who choose to wear ULI Bags.
ULI is derived from the Batak language (one of the tribes in Indonesia) which means beautiful. One of my ongoing dreams is to beautifully introduce the artistic style of my culture into fashion by using different fabric materials and various types of fabric productions such as hand-painted or hand-woven, and incorporate them with the fun and colorful Western fabrics. As art is an evolving process, I believe my handmade bags will evolve as I learn more about the uniqueness of fibers, cultures, and of course my imagination. And to have you with me on this changing yet lovely journey is such a great honor!
Cheers…😊
